Minimum transistor size in object property

In the device library many times devices have minimum values for their parameters. For example if the final user tries to define the transistor's lenght lower than the value allowed by the technology, such value is not accepted in the object property window but it is overwritten by the default value.
We are trying to design a pCell and it uses as a subblock an already defined MOS device and we would like to implement the same functionality also for our pCell, but we are not figuring out how. Somebody can suggest where to look/how to do?
