I thought it would be good to ask this question in a benchmark group:
A few days ago I ordered an AMD Athlon 1333 133 FSB with 256 mb pc133
sdram, not ddr ram. My question: How much slower is this system compared to
a system with the same setup but ddr ram? (Remember: At least I chose the
faster fsb!)

There are two SPEC CPU2000 results for a 1.2 GHy Athlon for two different
motherboards, one using SDRAM and the other DDR-DRAM. The difference in
especially tghe FP results is substantial.

Go for SDRAM at this moment, the market situation is so that it wont be a
smart choice to get DDR just yet. Pluss the AMD processor specs arent good
enough to make the most out of DDR, so we will have to wait for a while
before
it will be smart to buy DDR motherboards. However you do get MB that
supports
both memory types, how good these is unknown to me.
