Hello there !

I am a sysop running a Usenet/Fido BBS on an Amiga. Some users receive
their Usenet mail, file-attached through a Fido mailer session. This works
great, because the transfer rates are much higher. I simply have to convert
the filenames, pack the whole bundle, and send them to their Fido point
number. On arrival, they simple have to unpack the archive in their SPOOL
directory, run uuxqt over it, and they can read the news with their
preferred newsreader.

Converting the filenames (as if they where transferred in a UUCICO session)
is real easy on an Amiga, because one can use the same filenames as for
unix. But, now I have a PC user, and he wants to receive the usenet mail in
the same manner. Since PC Dos is not able to handle the "normal" filenames,
I suppose Waffle's uucico will rename them on the fly, to something DOS can
understand.

Can some-one enlighten me how those filenames like D.xxxxxxxxx and
X.nnnnnnnn are converted during a UUCICO session, i.e. what filenames will
there be on the receiving PC Waffle system ?

Thanks in advance.
