I remember the old Astrodero building.
Kind of a geek heaven like its distant descendent
Google HQ down the road is today.
Some of these guys posted a lot in these AI newsgroups
decades ago.

They would have to. When the only thing you know about
computer i/o is Xerox, that's the non-Barbie started working
on Multiplexed Fiber Optics, Holographics, XML, Post GE RPMs and
USB,
Flat Screen Debuggers, External Emulators, mp3, mpeg,
All-In-One Printers, Desktop Publishling, Atomic Clock
Wristatches,
Rapid-Protototyping, Data Fusion, Self-Assembling Robots, and Post
GM-nomics.
