Start from J. Bezdek's Pattern Recognition Book.
You can find a number of articles on fuzzy clustering in
IEEE Tran. Fuzzy Systems

If you do a search on Deja News with author = jg.ca...@ulst.ac.uk, subject
Fuzzy c-means initialisation, date April 20 1998 to April 30 1998, you will
find that I posted Java code for fuzzy c-means clustering.
