CE Geolocation plugin

Hi all,

I've been working on a CE plugin that adds much of the geolocation/mapping functionality you see on TennisMetro.com. I'll be calling it CE GeoLocation. Here's the feature list so far:

 

- It adds geocoding to states, metro areas and users

- It adds a Place model, which represents a physical geographic location

- It adds landing page stubs for states and metro areas (i.e. /states/1-MN or /states/1-MN/metros/1-minneapolis-st-paul)

- Adds automatic ip-based geocoding of visitors

- It adds a 'metro-areas breadcrumb' to the site header, allowing users to drill down to their location

- It adds commenting to metro areas and places, with notifications sent to active users in metro area

- New signups using an invitation will be assigned the inviting user's metro area (if there is one)

- New signups will be assigned the ip-geocoded metro area if available

I'll be offering this as a commercial plugin, much like my CE Facebooker plugin, and I'm trying to gauge the level of interest/get feature requests before I get to far down the line.

hi bruno,
we'd be very interested in this, although we've already integrated the
GeoKit and YM4R plugins to our (not yet launched) app to do much the
same thing. how can i get more info on your commercial plugins?

That's about all the info I have right now (I'd be happy to answer any questions off-list). I'm also using GeoKit, although I'm not using YM4R for the mapping (just straight-up javascript).

I'm very interested!! The feature list looks great, the one thing
that pops up in my mind is ownership of places. I'll be needing some
ability for users to have ownership/moderation control over specific
places. But I could be unique in this need.

Can't wait to kick the tires on it.
