Hi all

Does this group have a FAQ?

If not, could you please recommend a starting point with an overview and comparison of implementations?

I remember Netscape's server-side JavaScript from the mid-1990s, couldn't get it installed by my admin, so learnt Perl (and a few other things) since then but have found myself writing a lot of client-side JS recently, and finding it - with some libraries, or restricted to Mozilla - a much more pleasant language than Perl or Java.

TIA
Lee

to CommonJS
Hi,

I'm actually working on an overview

The presentation I did twice is a start and will be frequently
updated:
- V1: http://www.slideshare.net/alexandre_morgaut/state-of-the-art-serverside-javascript-parisjs
- V2: http://www.slideshare.net/alexandre_morgaut/state-of-the-art-server-side-java-script-webworkerscamp-9406069
- V3: in progress

The third version will include use cases, so I'm very interesting by
all examples of SSJS used in production via either GPSEE, Akshell,
Ringo, Node, Wakanda, Narwhal, APE, and so on.

My own opinion is that the choice of a SSJS solution depends on many
parameters like:
- the project development context (lot of Java, .NET, C...)
- team knowledge
- most adapted technology for the project (efficiency, productivity,
maintainability, ...)
- ..
It is often a compromise, but it doesn't have to be painful, and the
CommonJS initiative should make it easier ;-)

Regards,

Alexandre
