Hi guys,
Is there a way to get the current wifi network name (SSID) on CF?

I'm trying to make CF identify automatically if it should connect the systems using LAN ips or WAN ips.

Thanks,
Felipe.

There is no way to get this currently. Something we can add to the JS API most likely. Added to our todo list.

How about providing a list of near by bluetooth devices as well? This could be used to do a sort of indoor gps. It would just need to be a list of the device names or mac addresses.

No. Apple won't even let your _know_ the network SSID, even less select and connect to it.

You cannot, from software, connect or disconnect VPN either. All this has to be done and
decided by the user, and configured in the settings panels. 3rd party software is not
allowed to change this.

With iOS 6, the OS closes our outgoing connections as soon as you leave the
application, yes.

You can know the status of the network connection, look at the
CF.NetworkStatusChange event

 http://commandfusion.com/docs/scripting/net.html#cF.NetworkStatusChangeEvent

CF.networkType also tells whether you are primarily connected over
WiFi or 3G.

Finally, changes we are currently testing for the next release tell you whether
a VPN connection is active, and are more accurate regarding the current status
of the network.

I back off on what I previously said. We found a way to dig the current SSID, so next
iViewer version will have a global token & a CF variable holding the current network SSID when
applicable.

awesome it will be, this will help notify clients that iPads are not on the same wireless network with the control systems and gadgets, so they fix easily.

I have been called up twice for iPad not on SSID you configure for control.

iViewer Next has been submitted with a bunch of fixes and a some additions, it will be available in a few days. Once we confirm everything is fine, we'll push a new iViewer 4.

Hi

1.Is there any way to connect to the network automatically default (when disconnected from the network) with just one click to connect????

2.With the upgrade, we can show on behalf of the network to which is connected the ipad??

and the new CF will be in the Scripting documentation??

I hope your answer

1. no automatically. Apple wants the user to decide, not the software (unless it's the OS which automatically connects you to one of the known networks in range).

2. Yes the documentation will be updated as soon as the new build is available.

http://commandfusion.com/docs/scripting-beta/net.html#cF.networkType

Until iViewer is officially updated (will happen very soon since the new iViewer Next seems to work quite well), the docs for new versions is always under scripting-beta.

Hi

Is there any way to get the wifi signal strength?

and for example if I leave my house with the iPad (network disconnected automatically), I return to my home wifi network that  already is registered,  ay way to connect automatically, knowing that is the default network of the IPad?

Thanks.

You cannot get WiFi strength due to limitations in the iOS SDK - Apple does not give us access to this information.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "return home" part - it will already automatically reconnect.

iOS does not report WiFi signal strength. Android does, though, so we'll be able to make this information available on this platform.
