Has anyone tried controlling the new Samsung Smart Tv's. I have read somewhere that they can be controlled via RS 232 commands with a serial/USB cable

Any clues

Yes. I have a JavaScript module that doesn't over IP, with full keyboard support on iPad.

Do you know if it is possible to access plugin's such as iPlayer and Netflix on these screens using a single discreet command?

Not to my knowledge. It seems you can from the iPhone app ... I need to get a TV here and try to reverse engineer the codes passed over IP.
