I've decided to run a series of emergency chats on Barcamp at
http://www.irishcomicnews.com on Friday afternoon 4:30 – 6pm and
Saturday 2:30 – 4:30pm, 6:30pm – 8pm
Wait and See is much too unappealing. People are online at any time.
TBH Paddy on Pro-activity: I emailed everyone on Tommie's ICN mailing
list, and thirty others culled from the Wiki and my own sources. Joe
Gordon FPI Blog Chief said he'd run a piece. My guess is it got lost
in the SDCC palaver or at the back of the pile because I'm too
overworked to do adapt a press release. I've put out about ten each FB
links and tweets.
John McMahon of FPI Belfast was invited a few weeks ago. I gave him a
few pages on the barcamp and intimated the importance in seeing him or
some FPI staff there. So much so that I would reserve places. Stephen
from Reads/Easons is keen and I will email him shortly.
Format is certainly a good consideration but would most likely be
decided from a bit of research into what Easons want. Maybe one for an
end of the day session and a selection of talking point examples. Oh,
and then there's content.
Legalities AND profit-sharing. I would imagine any attendees consider
creator work freedoms important, so far as a consensus. A proper pay
stucture based on page count and properties (eg. black and white)
Funding - There are people monitoring it. Also bigger things like the
Wellcome Trust Arts Award which had I run Absence through them could
have gotten up to thirty grand.
Also, Bob Curran has some interesting things to say about how certain
members of the government in Northern Ireland and dinosaurs look upon
the medium.
