Hmm. I'm old enough to give you some details. The 'kuppies' name is
derived from the acronym 'KUP' - Kiasu Urban Professionals. The comic
is considered trash now, but when it was first released in the 90s it
was very hot property, because 'kiasu-ism' was a new and novel
concept, and the first few books explored this pretty well.
There were originally four 'kuppies'. I only remember two names:
Johnny Lau and James Suresh. I met James many years ago in NS. He
signed up as a non-uniformed staff with some department and was at my
camp for some event. Johnny Lau seems to have some links with MICA. He
is still actively doing some creative work. I don't have any more
details beyond these. Hope it helps.
