For June, I received an apparently estimated bill. It was marked "actual" but the wattspot showed the exact same usage for every weekday and similarly for every weekend. Clearly they invented those numbers based on some unrealistic formula.
When I got my July bill I expected that they would have gotten the June data with the July meter read. Apparently that didn't happen as my June bill was not adjusted, though the July bill was correct.
Unfortunately the estimated bill showed about twice as much usage as I would expect, and much of it at expensive times of the day. The bill is about 80% higher than it should be. Does anyone know if there is any recourse for getting this bill adjusted?
I tried calling ComEd, and after being bounced between ComEd customer service and the Wattspot number I didn't seem to get anywhere. ComEd reps claim to know nothing about RRTP, and the Wattspot people claim to know nothing about billing issues. ComEd promised to have my bill reviewed and send a new one within two weeks. I was promised this twice and have not received a new bill. At this point I've mostly given up and paid the bill as I don't have enough wireless minutes to keep calling ComEd.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with estimated bills on RRTP?
Yes, several of my winter bills have been estimated over the years.
A couple months later they correct it.
I've had the same experience with Nicor in the winter. They way over-estimate November - March usage. Then, I finally get an Actual reading and owe nothing all summer as the credit balance dwindles down.
Also, when I first signed up for RRTP, there were some problems getting the service switched over. It eventually got straightened out. I suspect the meter reader didn't have the new reader.

I thought that part of what the smart meter did was eliminate the need to have a technician come out and physically read the meter! What is the point of having a meter that is hooked up to transmit signals back and forth to ComEd if they are still sending a guy to trample through my garden to read the meter every month?

That's right, Mark. RRTP meters, like smart meters, record hourly
usage and demand. But, unlike smart meters, they do not have the
capability to transmit those data back to ComEd, and, instead, must be
manually read.

Illinois just passed a law that allows ComEd to build out a "Smart Grid".
Once done I think all will be on smart meters.

June was re-estimated to something more reasonable but never updated with actual data. July and August were correct, but then September was estimated (high) again. Now I've got the October bill which is correct for October, but nothing new for September. It seems as though the problem with RRTP is if they miss a reading they lose the data. That puts me at risk of getting a high capacity charge based on estimated usage (especially with the June and September readings missing).
Does anyone know of a secret customer service number to call for reps who actually know what RRTP is and are able to help with billing issues?

I have never had an estimated bill and we've been with RRTP for over 5 years. Have you tried this number? 1-877-WATTSPOT

For June, I received an apparently estimated bill. It was marked "actual" but the wattspot showed the exact same usage for every weekday and similarly for every weekend. Clearly they invented those numbers based on some unrealistic formula.

I've had several estimated bills, especially during winter when the snow is 5 feet deep.
Somehow they get the hourly usage updated a month or two later, so the meter must be able to store more than a month's usage.
Note that with these meter's we will never get "real-time" usage. We get "month-later" usage.
