Entry Level GIS Technician Profile

Title: GIS Technician
Description: This is a full-time position during normal operating hours
[8:00 am - 5:00
pm, Monday-Friday] at Transmap's corporate office. The GIS Technician
reports to the
Production Supervisor and serves as GIS technician using PC and related
peripherals, data
entry forms, and Transmap's proprietary image extraction software.
The GIS technician
interprets and analyzes street-level images to provide location and
descriptive information
of roadways and roadway infrastructure.
In addition, the GIS Technician will learn and make contributions in
each phase of home
office and field operations including data acquisition, processing, and
integration.
Qualifications at Hire:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Demonstrated work history
3. Highly dependable, flexible and conscientious
4. Eligible to work in the United States
5. Ability to provide driving history
6. Demonstrated knowledge of basic PC operation
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities at Hire:
Knowledge of:
· Basic operating principles and practices of computer equipment,
networks and
databases.
· Interpreting and navigating basic elements of a map.
· Basic operation and competency within ESRI Arc 9.x.
Ability to:
· Read, understand, follow and apply procedures, user manuals and
related materials.
· Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
· Perform quality control on the material and data being processed.
· Learn and understand technical processes, applications and
equipment quickly.
· Perform precise and accurate work in software environment.
· Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship in a
small, open office
environment.
· Provide written and verbal communications.
· Travel for extended periods of time (10-15 days).
