Hey Scott,
Pretty good meeting last thursday.  I'm anxious to hear the follow up stories from Zach about cmkt4!

I was fixing to update the meetup calendar for the next meeting and wondering if you were still up to do test and measure night.

This will be May 17th.

If so, will this be at Zach's place or your digs?

I am anxious to hear about the CMKT4 event.

I am not sure what to do about the 17th. Soccer schedules were moved back a week due to rain, so I will probably be parked at a practice again. I might be able to do 6/7 though I will be coming back from travel. On 6/21 I will be in Iraq. Maybe 7/5, but 7/19 I will be in Scotland (or somewhere else in the UK). If the day changed I could do that (like Wed 5/16) but I know there is resistance to changing meeting dates.

Anyway, still happy to do it, but summer travel and youth sports are a bear.

There wasn't too much excitement from having the CMKT4 crew crash at our house. Couldn't stay up too late, but we did tell tales and take a couple things apart.

What would everyone say to a G+ hangout to catch up on upcoming events? I'd be available either tonight or tomorrow night, around 6:30 or 9:30. If it works out, maybe we could make it into a recurring thing.

I’m hosting a FixMyElectronics hangout at 9-10pm. If my family permits, I’d love to join at 6:30, if that’s ok.

The early one works for me too.  Late baseball game.

Not looking now for 6:30 either... I just likely can’t tonight. Please share a link if On Air and I’d love to watch what you guys are talking about later.

We had a nice little three-person trial run of the hangout. We'll try again to get a solid bunch of us together tomorrow (Thurs) night at 9:30 pm.

So far, though, we know that Scott will be attempting to do his thing on the 17th. If he will not be available, we will probably bump the take apart night up, barring any stunning revelations.

Guys please do, if you get a chance, take a look at FixMyElectronics. It’s our second episode of the show and it, naturally, had technical difficulties. We need feedback to address the non-can’t-help-it-anyway issues we might have.

One user didn’t have some people’s audio (the host included) and kept talking over questions from others thinking that she was preventing awkward silences. We also had two presenters AWOL, so there’s some scrambling toward the end to cover and wrap.

At the very least, you’ll get to see laser beams.

Here’s tonight’s show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFR_9OMls3o
By the way, toward the end, the RGB Counter is binary counter to Octal display (not Quad, as a guest suggested).

And here’s the first, from two weeks ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox5EImr3xBE

Thank you for providing feedback.

I am on for next Thursday's test and measure themed evening. It is probably best held at my house, down in my shop. I have updated Meetup.

If you can, bring along a circuit or device you would like to measure. Things that have some time dependence are best, like 555 circuits, Arduinos that blink LEDs, etc.

If someone has a logic analyzer they can bring, that would be great too. If you know how to use it, even better (as I don't do a lot with them).

I can bring the bus pirate, which has basic logic analyzer capabilities. I'll also try to put together a little thing to use it on.

As for last night's hangout, I completely forgot about it while I was playing with my new phone. Sorry to anyone that might have been looking for it. I would like to have a recurring get together like that going forward. If you have a preference between Monday or Tuesday evenings, let me know in this thread. I'll make the determination Monday and send it out to everyone.

Thanks.

I'll definitely be able to make next Thursday's and I'll bring along a couple scopes and some different circuits I've got lying around that should be pretty cool to see, as well as my function generator.
Pretty sure my PicKit2 can do basic logic analyzer functions too so I'll grab that as well.

I'm really into this topic, but I don't think I'll be able to make it due to an obligation for work. Hope all goes well!

I will be bringing a digital multimeter as a giveaway for the meeting. We just need to decide how to pick who gets it. Obviously I would prefer it goes to someone who doesn't already have one. Maybe some sort of competiton or roll dice for it?
