One of the bigger players in the whole MakerBot / RepRap arena is an
outfit called MakerGear (www.makergear.com). The guy that runs it
(Rick Pollack) is a super-nice guy and his stuff is very high quality,
top-notch. I was talking to him on IRC tonight, and we came up with
an idea:
How about having a CGW meeting and doing a live demo with him over
Skype? We could set up 2-way videoconferencing which would allow him
to field questions from the group. He can show off his machines and
the latest stuff (he does a lot of extruder-related research which is
very interesting). Any members who have machines could bring them
along for others to check out in-person as well.

Well, I have four votes for getting this together (conferred with two
folks outside of this thread as well).
From talking to RickP, it sounds like it's best to do this after the
holidays (no surprise there). I suggested to him that perhaps we wait
until all the students come back. So if Wednesday is what's working
for people, how about January 26th?
As for the location, I think that we could easily do this in the back
room of Shakespeare's if they'll let us set up a big TV and use their
internet connection (and they probably would). Any other ideas for
location?
More news. I think we have another participant lined up - Josef
Prusa. This guy is another influential person in the RepRap Mendel
development. His optimized design is probably the best one out there
right now.

I don't think there is an Official Scheduler of Meetings, Nathan. If
you get something set up, post back here and I will post up to the
Facebook page, Google calendar, etc.
