Hey Ryan,
Cool video. Cyrille made a stove like this out of a tin can a while back.
He got it to work pretty well. If you bring one of those aluminum bottles
by (or a couple just in case..) sometime I would be glad to cut it with
you. The cuts are easy. He has mandril made to roll the top edge nicely. I
am not sure exactly how to make that, but I am sure we can figure it out.
We could also do it by putting it in the lathe and using wood or brass to
roll it over. The same guy has a really nice video on his site showing how
he makes an aluminum pot in the lathe using metal forming techniques. I
have done this a little many years ago. Would be fun to try again some
time. (http://youtu.be/o9ACWtdYiYc)
Might figure it out with a couple of us, then do a demo at a future meeting?
Dan G.
PS. I will go by the Surplus Auction this morning.

"There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You built
a factory out there - good for you.
But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the
rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You
were safe in your factory because of the police forces and the fire forces
that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands
would come and seize everything at your factory...
Now look. You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a
great idea - God bless! Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying
social contract is you take a hunk of that and you pay forward for the next
kid who comes along."
