I would like to request that anyone who has any video of our activities at the cardboard boat race today please send me a copy asap. Preferrably the raw video files. If you have access to a website like dropbox or google drive, that may work out best. ANY VIDEO WILL HELP. If for some reason you can't get it uploaded somewhere we can negotiate a thumbdrive transfer.

Please let me know asap who has what kind of video, and then let me know when and where I can get it from you.
I want to try to get this out by tonight or tomorow, so please take a moment and get the footage to me as soon as possible

Thanks!

Also Luc may appreciate any photos you may have.

I'm working on it Ryan. It is taking forever to upload.

Thanks! I'm fighting with linux video editing problems. None of them are intuitive.

Uploading raw video and editted photos now. It will be another 2-3 hours before they are done. I'll post a link when they are ready.

I want to thank everyone who submitted video for this project, I'm starting work on it right now. I'm going to attempt to use an open source linux video editor called OpenShot. It's not exactly intuitive but supposedly can make some pretty amazing things. Mainly I just want to be able to put a logo at the end that says edited using open source software... but to be honest my windows video editing software crapped out on me so I could either spend a day trying to sort that out, or a day learning a new piece of -free- software.

Anyway, I hope to have this all done and online by Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks again!

After many foul words directed at OpenShot, I finally finished the boat race video. It is now live at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5bdbToKWQE
Thanks again to everyone who contributed videos and photos to this project!

Also... I'm never using OpenShot again. It would be fine for editing together a single video of a cat doing something cute, but it is absolutely terrible for multicamera editing. Dan, you're going to hate me... but i've made a little video of you and your pleasure cruise after the race. I'll email the video out to each person individually as the music is a bit explicit and I don't want to give a bad impression of CGW in a public forum.

Thanks guys! I did not get the channel name changed, its displaying my 'real name' which is set as Columbia GadgetWorks.

Would someone like to add the video to our website? also, it might not hurt to go to the KOMU post about the race and post a link. We could use the publicity. http://www.komu.com/news/cardboard-boats-set-sail/ and maybe post it on our facebook.   I don't have a facebook or i'd do this myself.

"There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You
built a factory out there - good for you.

But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads
the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to
educate. You were safe in your factory because of the police forces
and the fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to
worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your
factory...

Now look. You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or
a great idea - God bless! Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the
underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and you pay
forward for the next kid who comes along."

I'm trying to collect as much about the event as possible. Does anyone here actually recieve any newspapers? I found an article on the missourian... but you have to subscribe to view it online.
http://www.columbiamissourian.com/a/161099/cardboard-duct-tape-made-seaworthy-for-food-bank-fundraiser/
It would be nice to scan the paper or something if there are any pictures of us in the article, or if they mention us at all, and put it on the website
if thats legal...

Hi,
I tried to access this article, but it said I needed to pay also,
and I'm a subscriber!
I sent them a message. I'll send you a copy if I can get it.
Also there are some more pictures on my flickr feed:

Anyone else take build pictures? I didn't take many.

Negative on the build pictures, atleast for me.

I found a video of how the duck dynasty boat was built. Pretty well engineered boat!

I grabbed a couple of copies of the Missourian on campus today. I'll bring them by the volcano soon with a few things I want to donate to CGW before I move.

Thanks!
