Mike's Monday Report for Chatfield Rez

Wow, I am not ready to give up Ice Sailing as of yet either!  I am gone this w/e but will be back and have next Tuesday March 6th off if anyone wants to go sail w/me at Chatfield!  Suz     Chatfield up date. 10" ice, a bit rough in places........ but..... Sailable!!! Tried to use my ice auger to drill through at first but after numerous minutes and never breaking through after 6-7" decided it was safe enough. Talked to a couple of fisherman about 1/2 way out from Catfish Flats and they gave me the 10" report and upon personal inspection I agreed. Sailed on a 3.4 and a Snowfer at first, I'm pretty shaky on the Snowfer. Then switched to my regular iceboard, Bazinga! Lots of turns and runs. Another bonus day! I believe this is the third time that I figured the ice season was over but Mother Nature has conspired to give us clear sailable ice. Drill before sailing, wear your picks and a PFD, never sail alone and have fun!!! Mike C
