All,

We have decided that the method in which will be receiving the donations
pledged will be via our fund we have setup with Bluegrass Community
Foundation (BGCF). Donating in this way will be easier to keep track of
and also your donation will be tax deductible. Make sure when you fill
out the form that you select "Collexion Fund"

Here is the link: https://bgcf.guidestargiving.org/donatenow

Please let me know if anyone has any questions, and Thank You for your
donations!

Sorry for not clarifying, but the amount that I mentioned did not include the 10 dollars I added as the 5 percent maintenance fee

Please note the amount (if any) you put towards the maint fee

Sorry I didn’t get to this sooner…I’ve been out of the loop over the holidays.  I just donated $400.

I didn’t pay the overhead fee because…well…because I would rather just hand someone cash or a check, and there’s fair odds this money will eventually be reimbursed to me anyway for a parts purchase I’ll most likely be putting on my credit card (which will cost the merchant yet another fee), and…well…I don’t know…I just hate paying fees.  Figure between the donation fee (5%) , the transaction fee on the purchases (3-4%), sales tax (6%),  and shipping (??), we’re spending close to 20% of our purchasing power on something other than recompensing the seller for the great stuff we want to buy from them.

OK…I didn’t meant to rant about quite that long. *blush* Think I’ll go buy a Georgia peach from a roadside stand now.

If everyone took that approach we wouldn't get anywhere with making this thing. Yes it sucks to choose to pay the fee or assume your donation is 5% less, but it will make things much easier to manage. Plus there are tax benefits. The way you want to do it, there is not.

Just suck it up and donate through the account like everyone else. ;-)

Yeah, I know…I’m a curmudgeon.  More so each year, it seems.

Speaking of tax benefits, do you know if we can deduct these donations?  The receipt from the system didn’t have any sort of 501-c type language on it.

Just suck it up and donate through the account like everyone else. ;-)

Yes, they are deductible. Amounts over $100 get a letter from the

Dave Hempy's contribution - not a pledge, since he has already given the funds - is one of the larger ones. He has also contributed materials to the space and pledged time to help construct the CNC router. Is this the way you'd like to thank someone for substantial participation in a group project? By criticizing him for preferring to donate in a different way after he already donated in the manner some members of the group prefer?

Shame, shame...no cookies for you!

Hey Edgar, you can make the donation to Blue Grass Community Foundation at this link: https://bgcf.guidestargiving.org/donatenow

Make sure to select "Collexion Fund" under the Additional Questions section, it's the first drop-down menu. Near the bottom of the page, it gives you the option of donating an additional amount to cover the processing fee, if you feel like doing that.

Thanks!
