hi y'all:

Using online tutorials, I popped open the case of my wife's iPhone 3GS, which took an unexpected "bath." Dried out nicely, but there's a connector (#3 in the link below — the ear speaker, apparently) that's so tiny that I'm having trouble with my big dumb fingers re-"sliding" it into place.

Even using tweezers, I'm striking out, and I'm afraid to make too many attempts out of fear of munging up the innards in some other way.

Anybody with particular love for extra-tiny connections who would entertain a visit from me for some help reconnecting? Note: I will happily pay a "reconnect fee," if some kind Collexioneer would answer my cry.

holla back if you might be so kind to this finger fumble-master: mi...@mickjeffries.com

That particular connector should be pretty easy to slip back in... Just to double check... You do have the little pressure lever (it's what they're pointing at in that pic) flipped up, right? If not it is virtually impossible to get that connector back in...

I have reseated that one several times... Once you get it in slightly, a gentle rocking it should just slip back in...

Thanks, Aaron! I wish I was finding it to be easy. The pressure lever: that grey bar? I don't find my innards to be quite exactly like that. Mine seems to have some sort of "sheath" over that area. The difficulty is holding onto the ribbon connector — even with tweezers — and sliding it (?) in. I'm just not AT ALL sure I'm doing it right, and definitely afraid of snapping something off.

Here's a photo of my guts: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrtoastey/7279856904 with a few notes.

Is there somewhere (besides Apple) I could take it? Or maybe I SHOULD take it to the apple store.…

I'm lacking the right equipment, that's for sure. Peeps should see me wearing TWO pairs of reading glasses for some impromptu magnifying glasses.

That little grey bar should flip up... It is a lever... Just apply moderate pressure upward on it from underneath with a little screwdriver or pen tip...

I'll be back in lexington this afternoon... Glad to help if you're still having trouble...

I got it, Aaron! I watched a few YouTube vids until I found one where somebody actually flipped it and then I felt a little more confident trying some gentle pressure with an X-acto blade… did it!!

thanks for believing in me… (sob) I love you guys…
