Hi all.  I have used MS Entourage for many years to connect to our corporate Exchange servers and have suffered it long enough.  I still will be keeping the MS Office Suite for Mac but I need a new email client.  Any suggestions?  My biggest complaints with Entourage have been all the crashes over the years and the fact that it builds (and makes you maintain) a local database on your laptop.

Thanks, Chad

There's always updating to Office 2011 which has Outlook.

I use the email client that comes with OSX and love it. Works well with exchange. Don't remember any crash issues.

I also use the Mac OSX client which is pretty nice.  On linux and windows I use Thunderbird.  They all work well with exchange.

Same here, using "Mail" (Mac OSX's default Mail client) - works well for the most part, and you can set up mailboxes the same way you would in Outlook,  plus, you can synchronize with gmail.

One issue I have is I cannot get it to send pure ASCII plain-text to an old server-based e-mail listserv list to completely eradicate rich-text artifacts (gremlins). Although I have been able to prevent most gremlins, it still reports (on the list) that I'm sending "Western ISO-8859" which I was told is still not following the house rules of being 100% pure ASCII text.

I should mention that our corporate Exchange Server is still 2003 which doesn't play well (if at all) so I have heard with anything beyond Entourage 2008.

True or False?

Does it have IMAP enabled on it?  If so, then pretty much anything oughta work, right?

Yeah Mike, you are correct...I just connected Mac mail to our Exchange server last night via IMAP.  Don't know why I never noticed that option until yesterday.  :(   Not sure it will be any better than Entourage but I am test driving.

Thanks!

Yeah, I would guess that most of the problems you are having are on the server side...

Andrew -- I would concur....given that Exchange 2003 is already 10 years-ish old.   :(

We need another drinkup soon.

Cheers, Chad

UK switched a lot of their email over to Google gmail which has worked a lot better for me than their
old Exchange servers.   I've never been impressed with anything MS has done as far as the internet is
concerned - their initial email clients had all kinds of low level problems (non standard SMTP stuff), IE
was the cause of years of torture for web designers around the world, even their first shot at TCP/IP
stacks was filled with their own 'enhancements'.

Hmmm,  I was kind of planning to go up to West 6th tonight on the trolley - maybe stop at Thursday night live on the way...are you available tonight?
