Not enough power. Increase the power by about four orders of
magnitude. You have to vapourize the moisture so that the raisins
explode almost instantly, before they can start to smoke. You're
at the power density now where the water is beginning to convert to
steam, and plump the raisins.

Also note, microwaving the bowl of raisin bran did not work. The raisins
almost became the size of grapes, and then began to smoke and my coworkers
were not impressed with that science experiment.

Let's see, the raisins retain a bit of moisture, while the bran flakes are
reasonably dry. Thus, if you hit the bowl of cereal with 10 MW of 2450
MHz microwave energy, the raisins should absorb enough of that energy
that they will almost immediately, and entirely, explode, while the bran cereal

Ferrets. you can get a ferret and train him to collect and eat raisins
(ferrets won't eat bran flakes). Then before breakfast every morning you
could pour the cereal out on a piece of wax paper, release the ferret, have

Now, I know this might be crazy....but you could just buy both Raisin Bran
and plain bran flakes. ;)

The air-based system would also likely work. If I were you, I'd collect a
sizeable sample of bran flakes and raisins from a few boxes of Raisin Bran
and figure out the average weight of a raisin and of a bran flake. From

Recently at work, we were faced by a dilemma of unusual circumstance. This

The problem I have with WikiTraversal is the fact that I don't want to stop
reading the main entry, so I open every interesting-looking term in a new
tab. Then I become sad when I realize what I have done in 15 minutes, and
have to close about 15 tabs of amazing knowledge in fear of sitting there
