  Not enough power. Increase the power by about four orders of &lt;br&gt; magnitude. You have to vapourize the moisture so that the raisins &lt;br&gt; explode almost instantly, before they can start to smoke. You&#39;re &lt;br&gt; at the power density now where the water is beginning to convert to &lt;br&gt; steam, and plump the raisins.

  Now, I know this might be crazy....but you could just buy both Raisin Bran &lt;br&gt; and plain bran flakes. ;) &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;The air-based system would also likely work.
