copper balls

My dad had a copper ball sitting in his garage for years. Nobody knew
what it was, but he and I kept saying we would make something out of
it. He gave it to me last weekend so I cut it open. The guys in
metal class think it's from an absinthe still.

There are two balls. One inside the other. Some kind of screen
separating the two.

Anybody know anything about it?

It could be the condenser from a still. Maybe. (As such, is it
registered with the BATFE?). It would be interesting to see the
various connections (No pictures came through.).

Could be a condenser from a still, if there's a provision for sending
cold water to the inner ball, and a gas port and drain to the outer
one. Maybe.

Or, maybe it's a Farnsworth-Hirsch fusor?
