Transy and Open Data

Hey guys/gals -- Nick Such and I met with Jason Whitaker, the VP of IT @ Transy today and it went smashingly well.  He and his IT team are very enthusiastic about being part of the Open Data Initiative and the new "digital town and gown" we are working on.  Also, Nick mentioned the idea of internship opportunities and senior capstone classes to perhaps develop iOS apps, etc. with the data (not to only stump for iOS but their curriculum teaches iOS dev to the CS students).  And lastly, he mentioned that some of the professors and senior-level administration would be interested in our efforts as well and he wants to circle back around with them at a date t.b.d.

Nick, please add anything that I may have missed.

Bottom line:  the community grows bigger and stronger.

Chad - I think you got it all!

Kevin - any tips for working with K-12 schools? (projects that work well, ways to integrate into the curriculum) We have plenty of sharp kids in Lexington, with some particular strengths in application development coming through the MSTC Program at Dunbar.
