Yes, it is! PROOF:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJczfkdSi_0Chris stopped by and dropped off ANOTHER
semi-retired computer Saturday, which Brennan and I got configured pretty
quickly. (Third times a charm...) It performed beautifully all day,
including several power cycles of the computer and motor power supply.
After
several "air cuts", we took a big leap to several Sharpie sketches
(think jumbo plotter!) before actually putting a bit in the router and
assaulting wood. We set some of the settings "creatively" to get it to
work...I'm sure we'll learn more appropriate methods as we proceed.
So, there's still work to do on the machine, and LOTS to learn about how to use it, software options, and so on, but I want to take a moment to send out HUGE PROPS to the team that has gotten us this far. Of course, I'm going to miss someone (or more likely, forgot your name...bad brain), but here goes:
THANK YOU TO THE TEAM: James, Dustin, Jason, John, David, Ron, Brennan, and Mike!!! (Who did I miss?)
Thanks to everyone who gave us the encouragement, permission, and space to build this crazy thing!
Thanks to everyone who chipped in the money that kept the parts rolling in!
But maybe the biggest thanks will go to those yet to come: the people (YOU!) that have wacky, beautiful ideas that this machine will bring into the real world. I JUST CAN'T WAIT to see what you creative geniuses will come up with!
Like I said, there's work yet to be done (cable management, wiring, paint, tuning, software...), but it's time to bring more people into the project. I'd like to have a state-of-the-router meeting, where we teach everything we know about running the router (which is not much yet!), finalize the finalizing to-do list, welcome some new volunteers (especially for the software side of things!), and MAKE: SAWDUST!!!
So, who wants to get trained to run the machine? Want to meet on Wednesday night, Saturday morning, or some other time?
W0OT!
