I had written off this Saturday due to the final four, but just saw that the game isn't until 6:00 or 6:30.
Anyone want to work until 4 or 5 on the router? I'm game!
I guess we're closing out the majority of the mechanical work, although I'm sure there are plenty of details yet to be addressed.
I trimmed 0.070" off the z slide width. It should fit now...we will see. I also drilled the angle rails on the mill. They came out perfect, except I made two identical copies, instead of two mirror copies. It was so late and I was so pissed, I just mounted one upside down. I plan on making an entire new z slide (in HDPE) and rails, but not until the router is up and running. The current ugly mutt will work just fine.
I'm going to make a router mount this week or next. I dont think that will slow us down, as we are probably at least two weeks from making a test cut, under the most optimistic projection. If I don't have something going by next weekend, I'll call uncle and we'll just order one...I think they're $130 or so?
I think the wiring and electronics phase is our next big push, phasing into the computer end of things.
David D. - Can you give us an update on where we're at on the wiring front? Is there anything we need to acquire before our next work day?
In other news, you may have seen my offer of a mill and lathe to Collexion. If that happens quickly, we can make a sub project of fabbing the router mount and z slide, as well as any other little fittings. (what am I saying?!? We'll make the next z slide on THE ROUTER!)
So, chime in for Saturday, be ye affirmative or negative.
