Hi All,

Mozilla India & Mozilla Labs is hosting "Pune Demo Party" for a full day + night of open web (aka HTML5) demo hacking, food/drinks! An artful exploration of open web technologies, in the tradition of the Demo Scene. Attend/ Host hands-on HTML5 workshops and collaborate with hackers and artists till late night or even the next day to take home the evenings Demo Party Award! Web Enthusiasts please do attend.

All information is there on the links. I'm sure its going to be help. You have to register beforehand - for students/enthusiasts, there is a separate registration [1] as given on this page - [2] Read thoroughly about what all is there and watch out for some contests too! :)

The 'Pune Demo Party, June 25th' is all about open web (aka HTML5) demo hacking! 

We plan to do two things:

1. Host hands-on HTML5 workshops in the morning &
   
2. Contest/ demo-hacking in the evening. 
• Evening’s Web Competition Details: Participants submit their work in the following categories:
• Animated GIF (+PNG/SVG) 512k Inspiration Example
  
  
• Single-effect compo Example
   
• CSS3 Compo Example
   
• Audio Demo (Everything goes, Focus on audio, e.g. generate music, audio api…)
• Full Demo (ALL GOES, WebGL, Canvas, no size limitations, get NUTS!!) Example
   

We have not received any CFP's from COEP students/ members. It would be great if you could encourage some best of candidates in HTML5/ CSS3 Open Web Technologies to be speakers at this event. As of now we are having speakers from Ami Works & Microsoft. We want to give the participants good learning/ hacking experience.

Do attend the event and watch out for contests. I'd try to manage it but owing to the fact that I have my dissertation defence on the same day, the chances are bleak :(

If time permits before the session install eclipse with javascript support and make sure you have a good browser like chrome / firefox 3+ (or its derivatives).

I am not able to connect to the IRC.

I am using the given server and also I have tried using chatzilla which I am not even able to get started and I have tried using mIRC.

Whenever I fill in the server as the given and the group as given it searches but at the end gives the error cannot resolve server.

Which IRC client should I use and also which port should I use and is there any preset password for this?

Please help me out.

I hope everyone understood the basics of DOM and js yesterday.
Sorry for the fact the my net went of abruptly in the end.
Those who could not join us yesterday can check out all the code

Use the 'Time Slider' feature to check all the code written throughout
the session.

thanks Shravan for such a nice session.... It was a great experience for me joining an IRC session for the first time...Also learned the basics ( until my bsnl network gave me a  ditch!! ) , and using piratepad was also very much fun!!
Just want to share a view.. I dont say that IRC is not good ( it helps for sessions with people from various places..) , but i think a face-to-face session is much better ( so that nobody misses anything due to the improper connection..) Also , a lot of time is wasted in typing and all...
Hope you take this into consideration , specially when a lot of non localites are not in the activity....
