Ok I download eclipse, not sure which version but I just typed

sudo apt-get install eclipse

I think it installed the SDK and the Java Eclipse SDK.
I checked out their site and it was very confusing which ones to
download.
I have also seen there are a lot of plugins for different languages in
Eclipse. Can someone help me out.
The languages I will be working on C/C++, HTML/PHP/JS/CSS , Python. I
mean these languages are a must.

Can someone please help me out with this.
I also downloaded the eclipse for C/C++ but I am not able to compile
my files, so if anyone has any tutorials on how to do it it will be
helpful.
Thank you.

Also I am open to something other than eclipse, like if you know of a
better IDE for any of the languages listed above I am open to using it.

Use Qt. Its based on C++.

Download the whole QtSDK or just QtCreator. The installer takes care of everything.

Besides, It has very good documentation and lots of examples.

Sana

Another thing you can do is download eclipse completely from www.eclipse.org/downloads
Preferably download the classic one. It has j2se support only. Others need to be added. U only need jre ( not jdk ) on your system. There is no compilation required. Just unzip and start using it.
As for the tutorials, there,s a good set of java tutorials for eclipse at sourceforge. Search for java and eclipse tutorials on google. Good set of video tuts covering a large set of eclipse features.

I have eclipse galileo & indigo on my win7 & ubuntu... i hav tried to run some java codes on both but every time it throws an error about the method main... surprisingly the same codes work perfect on netbeans or when run using command prompt.

I am basically looking for a dreamweaver(For web-development) kind of thing on linux since I hate coding on Windows 7.
And also I am looking for an IDE for python. So I am assuming that there is a plugin available for eclipse which allows me to interpret python, or am I wrong in assuming that?
