Hi all,
One can find the minutes of the meet at
http://meetbot.debian.net/minidebconfpune/2011/minidebconfpune.2011-07-28-15.30.html

This service was done by a bot named meetbot (currently being
developed and maintained by Richard Darst).

One can find the whole log (a.k.a raw log) of the IRC meet at
http://meetbot.debian.net/minidebconfpune/2011/minidebconfpune.2011-07-28-15.30.log.html

Now few possible follow-ups :-

somebody named sana from COEP would be putting up 'introduction to
debian' session alongwith me.

See 5. action items by person.

It was also discussed that s/he would talk with other COEP students
who are interested to hack on Debian to let us know. Perhaps s/he
could act as a liason between the VIT people and COEP ?

Another thing that was thought aloud was the possibility of both VIT
and COEP jointly hosting mini-debconf.

There may be possibility perhaps of getting few wifi routers from COEP
to help people during the workshop (think probably would need them on
day 2 and day 3, although if people get it couple of days early, then
they could set it up properly and see if any chinks come up. )

Meanwhile, I think today afternoon to today evening would start
hacking on 'GNU/Linux on Desktop' . The pains and all that goes with
it. I do not really have high hopes because there are so many places
where GNU/Linux can be improved that it might be unmanageable. Also I
might not have the high-level overview required as the 'Desktop'
metaphor is a pretty big space nowadays and it means different for
different folks.

Anyways would probably end putting up stuff like :-

Nvidia binary drivers are a shame and Nvidia should go to hell. (I do
not have Nvidia on my desktop but know enough people who have been
bitten by it.)

The Nouveau project (reverse-engineered Nvidia drivers) is a much
better option to figure out what's going on.

See http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/ as well as
https://github.com/pathscale/pscnv/wiki/TODO-for-newcomers

Incidentally Nouveau is packaged for Debian. $ aptitude search nouveau
c libdrm-nouveau1 - Userspace interface to nouveau-specific k
p libdrm-nouveau1-dbg - Userspace interface to nouveau-specific k
i A libdrm-nouveau1a - Userspace interface to nouveau-specific k
p libdrm-nouveau1a-dbg - Userspace interface to nouveau-specific k
p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau - X.Org X server -- Nouveau display driver
p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau-dbg - X.Org X server -- Nouveau display driver

Last, there were few girls from COEP and JSOE? who were in the meet
but none of them spoke anything apart from hi and couple of other
statements. Dunno if we weren't welcoming enough or they just wanted
to lurk and get an idea as to what we were talking/sharing about.

At last, Please register at

Abhijit, your comments and thoughts on the above would be much appreciated.

Everybody, please feel free to chime in with your comments,

Sana is she. :)
Sure. I did talk my classmates.
Moreover, Abhijit Sir too would be making the announcements.

I spoke to Abhijit Sir on this. There are problems in arranging wifi routers from COEP.

Last year, I had put up this blog
http://sanakhan2011.wordpress.com/ as a part of my experiences with the mini-debian-conference at COEP.

@Shirish: About the 'introduction to debian' session, tell me some time as per your convineince. We'll discuss it.

Regards
Sana.

Sorry, apologies. One can never be sure of gender via names these
days. It would be nice to know what is the response of the classmates
as well. If somebody have some ideas/suggestions or somebody wants to
do some sort of a BOF (Birds of a Feather) or something they would
like to share, it would be nice to flip it out on the list.

Ok, so atleast the VALU people know about it.

I am available during evenings . What I would suggest is let me make a
rough draft of the same (probably should have something ready by
Monday/Tuesday) and then mail it to you offlist . Then we could take
it from there.

One thing though, as of right now I'm using abiword atm (putting it as
a simple .odt file) . If you use abiword its good otherwise we could
use libreoffice writer with annotations as well. Lemme know what is
better for you ?
