Public Star Party

Hello all.

The annual overnight stargazing session i.e. the Public Star Party has been scheduled on 6th April, 2013 (coming Saturday). The event will start on 6th April, 2013 evening 7:00 PM onwards and end the next morning by 6:00 AM. We shall be back to Pune by 9:00 am on Sunday, 7th April.

The session will include introduction to the night sky and basic astronomy, tracing constellations, observation of planets and Messier objects using telescopes.

The details are as follows:

• Date: 6th April (through the night)
  
• Venue: Foothills of Rajgad
  
• Reporting: The participants have to report at COEP central library on 6th April, at or before 4:30 pm.
  
• Time of departure: 5:00 pm from COEP central library
  
• Registration charges: INR 200 per head inclusive of transportation and tea.

Registration is Compulsory and will be carried out on first come first serve basis. Last date for registrations is Thursday, 4th April 2013.

Please Note:

1. Everyone has to arrange for their own food and water.
2. The site for the star party is an open plain located at the foothills of Rajgad. Hence we will have to walk for about 15 mins from the parking.
3. All participants are hereby instructed to compulsorily wear shoes and carry sufficient warm clothing.
4. Please carry torches and red gelatin paper.
5. Also note that there are no facilities at the site. Please make preparations keeping this in mind.
