Hello all.
Quiztronomy 2013 conducted yesterday saw participation from 27 teams from colleges which included FC, SP, AISSMS, VIT and a lot of teams from COEP. The Director, Dr. Sahasrabuddhe was present. He addressed the gathering and spoke about playing by the rules.
The elims was conducted by Sarang Karpate. The cutoff was 9 while the top score was 19 on 25. Two teams had tied for the sixth position to make it to the finals and the tie was resolved on the basis of star-marked questions.
The final round was conducted in two parts- The theme round consisting of 7 questions connecting to the theme "The wonders of the solar system"; and the 36-questions infinite rebound round. The theme round was a written round which was conducted by Rohan Danait.
The first half of the final round was conducted by Omkar Yarguddi, while Payas Awadhutkar conducted the second half. The results of the finals are as follows:
- Varad Naik and Aniketh Rallabhandi
- Rohit Chaoji and Albert Paul
- Aditya Chandorkar
Teams 1 & 2 had tied for the first position each with a total score of 85 points. The tiebreaker was a different round in itself. 3 questions were asked of which the first was answered correctly by both, the second was not attempted while the third was not attempted by team 1 and was incorrectly answered by team 2. Therefore they received a -10 points penalty and team 1 won.
The prizes, trophies and certificates were distributed after which the members dispersed.
I would like to thank all members who were present and all those who could not be present due to certain pressing engagements. Special thanks to the FY members who were present in spite of having a test scheduled in the afternoon. Thanks also to Khaladkar ma'am for her inputs, encouragement and wholehearted support.
