I have some questions regarding ClusterControl™ Configurator for
Galera .

1. Can i use it in production.
2. Is this free or we need to take license.
3. Will Codership will support on any issue happens with
ClusterControl™ Configurator for Galera .
4. Can we use latest version of galera, wsrep and mysql ie. 1.1
release with mysql5.5.17. if yes from where i have to download it.
5. How many maximum nodes we can use.
6. If we install old version of ClusterControl™ Configurator for
Galera later can we upgrade it to latest release.

Sorry for asking somany questions at one go.

Thanks & Regards

1. dude...you can use anything in production if you want to :)
3. codership will probably happily support any issue if you have a
support contract
4. binaries are accessible on their site, don't forget mysql client

Im probably guilty of posting a question that I could have resolved on
my own, but considering the little documentation out there, you may
want to use this forum as a record of sorts for future users until
someone takes the time to write full documentation.

Hi,

Regarding the questions/guesses in this thread:

First off, note that ClusterControl is a separate product developed by
a separate company - Severalnines. We're of course trying to work
together, but in the end ClusterControl is another product, by another
company and ultimately Severalnines is responsible for it, including the
terms of use and support. (they have a nice support site:
http://support.severalnines.com/home)

Now from what I understand:
- there are no restrictions about using ClusteControl as offered for
downloads at their site.
- they seem to have updated ClusterControl to use our latest releases.
(and the main point of ClusterControl is that you don't have to set up
the binaries manually, but you obviously can)

So just try out, there are no obligations!

Regards,
Alex

Hi Alexey,

Thanks for these updated informations but like Mohammed, I'm wondering about the License used ? I know this is more a Severalnines related question and sould probably be directed to them but as you surely know the answer : is it free or not ?
the only information I have found on their web site about this is this reply :
http://support.severalnines.com/entries/20881407-mysql-galera-with-clustercontrol-license-check-failed
but that's not very clear ...

Thanks,

Laurent

A neutered version is free. You can't use any of the really useful features without purchasing a license. I was pretty disappointed when I tested it out.

Also there is no easy way to uninstall and it does not support upgrades.

Hi Michael,

First, thanks for your answer.

I've finally got an answer in parallel from Vinay Joosery from severalnines, you will find it below, hope it can be useful for people who are also wondering :

---
Vinay Joosery

Hi Laurent,

The solution is operational and usable without a license. The license is for the enterprise version that has additional management features.

Should you be interested in the enterprise version of the product, please send an email to vinay at severalnines.com.

The following webpage shows what features are included in the enterprise version:

http://www.severalnines.com/features-clustercontrol-mysql-galera

Thanks!

Hi folks.
The free version of ClusterControl gives you access to a bunch of
monitoring functions, as well as automatic recovery of the galera
cluster. We have an enterprise version of ClusterControl that gives
users access to additional management functionality, e.g. upgrades,
rolling restarts, etc.

http://support.severalnines.com/entries/20881407-mysql-galera-with-clustercontrol-license-check-failed

This is the model we have chosen to run our business. It might not be
perfect, but we are very grateful for any feedback that can help us
fine-tune the model.

Best regards,
Vinay
