I am surprised that a schedule has not been posted on the website yet. There is a list of available presentations and workshops but I have no idea which ones I will be able to take because I don't know which presentations run in parallel and which ones overlap. I hope somebody rectifies this situation soon.

Thanks
Arsalan

The schedule has already been posted. It's at
http://codemash.org/CM-2010-Schedule.pdf (available from the right nav
on the website).

There are several available schedules, in fact. I created a public
google calendar with all session info in each calendar entry, location
info, etc., and there's also a google docs spreadsheet version with
some helpful color-coding:

google cal: http://bit.ly/6wnokk
google doc: http://is.gd/5pgJ9

See ya'll there...

Thanks for this. It made choosing sessions much easier.

Or harder in my case, especially for the Friday after-lunch time block. :-)

Glad people are liking the Google Doc spreadsheet. Originally set it
up as an Excel spreadsheet with the Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced on
the sessions as well, but that didn't translate well to Google Docs.

Although formatting the schedule this way made me realize that in
nearly every time slot there's at least 2 sessions I want to attend.
Not to mention any cool Open Spaces sessions that will come up.

I hope that the sessions will be video-taped and posted so that those who cannot attend every session they want to can go back and see what they missed.

Unfortunately, we don't video any sessions. We've tried this many
times in the past and it's always a mess. It's just too much work and
too many parts for already swamped volunteers with scavaged equipment
to deal with.

The only viable option is to get a professional company in to handle
that, and you don't want to know the costs involved around that. We'd
have to triple or quadruple the costs of the conference just to cover
that service. Seriously.

How about audio-recordings together with posting slides?

One thing they did at RailsConf this year was to encourage attendees to bring their own cameras and record the talks themselves. They then created a blip.tv account to which everyone could upload their videos. I have to confess that, while I brought my own camera and taped several talks, I never got around to uploading them because I didn't have the computing/storage resources to properly compress the videos below 1GB. However, I'm happy to bring my camera to Codemash, if the speakers don't mind, and shoot for a better job this time!

Good morning,

I'd like to suggest attendees refrain from taking the initiative of
recording sessions for two reasons. First, the act of doing so will
likely distract not only the speaker but also the audience members,
and our first priority is to ensure both parties have a spectacular
session experience. Second, I've been made aware that some speakers
are not particularly interested in having their sessions recorded for
a variety of reasons.

Of course the speaker has carte blanche to make prior arrangements to
record his or her session. Either way, neither the CodeMash organizers
nor the Kalahari will be able to offer technical assistance in the
matter. It's not that we have a desire not to assist, but rather that
in prior years attempt to do so have been an ultimately unnecessary
distraction.

What is the session for the 4:50-5:50 time block for room E that just
has "Nick Sieger"?

Nick Sieger from Engine Yard http://www.engineyard.com/ has graciously
accepted our invitation to speak on the topic of JRuby. I'm awaiting
an official session description from him now, and will be posting it
to an updated schedule hopefully later today.

I updated the google calendar event description with this information -- and will continue to keep it as up-to-date as possible as new information becomes available.

Thanks,
