Greetings, all!

I wanted to pass on news about CodeMash registration.

First off, registration will likely open up on or about Monday, 1
October.

Secondly, the pricing:

Alumni -- $110, ends 12.15.07
Early Bird -- $125, ends 11.15.07
Normal -- $175, starts 11.16.07, ends 1.5.08
Procrastinator -- $250, starts 1.6.08, ends 1.15.08

(We'll be happy to take money from anyone who is such a procrastinator
that they register /after/ the event...)

Second, a bit about the pricing. CodeMash is in the process of
getting IRS approval as a 501(c)6 non-profit Business League. Note
that is *not* a non-profit charity, but is specifically a Business
League. I will not risk killing any CodeMash Alumni or newcomers with
the legalese surrounding this decision. Suffice it to say that we've
done a lot of research and consultation with a couple lawyers and have
decided this is the right direction.

That said, here's the skinny: $20 from each fee goes specifically to
Membership Dues which entitles you to become a member in the CodeMash
Conference business league. For example, Alumni pricing costs $110
which breaks down to $90 for conference attendance and $20 for the
membership dues. Feel free to do the math on the other levels
yourselves...

You can find more information about the Membership Dues on CodeMash's
"About" page at http://www.codemash.org/About.aspx.

As always, please don't hesitate to ask questions of us. Feel free to
contact me via this group, by e-mail, or via the contact form on my
blog at http://FrazzledDad.com

We committee members are all excited about what's coming along so far,
and I hope you Tribe Members are getting excited as well.

Regards,

Jim

"Secondly" followed by "Second." Sigh. Obviously, that second
"Second" should be some variant of "Third."

Good thing I had a solid copy editor when I co-authored my book...

AWESOME! I'm excited to see everyone again. Wonder if we'll have a
coding competition again! I'm looking forward to not coding. HAHA!

It looks like I've got a new recruit, as well, from work. I've been
talking about it all year, and he couldn't resist. Couple that with
the fact that I brought back some techniques that have fundamentally
changed the way we program.

What exactly qualifies an Alumni? I would *assume* it just means
someone that attended CodeMash v1.0... yes?

Ah I should have asked, does that registration fee cover the Kalahari?

Quick answers:
1. We're letting the Kalahari handle their own reservations this year, so room reservations are in addition that, but you should use a discount code of CODEMASH when registering, just like last year.

2. Alumni: yes, anyone who attended CodeMash 07 will get a discount code for alumni.  The discount code can be used once (so not shared with non-alums).

Anyone who attended last year will be considered an Alumni.

Thanks.

Also,
A personalized Alumni discount code will be mailed to you when we open registration. This code will work for one registration. We will be sending the code to the email address that you registered with last year.

Thanks.

Any idea on what the discount is going to look like this year?

Same as last year; $88/night + tax.

I think total cost for an alumni will be in the $110 range, plus hotel.

Thanks.

So am I imagining things, or is registration actually open now? Cause
I think I registered...
