Wear whatever is comfortable or that is *you*. If you dress up too much you'll probably feel over dressed and out of place.

You've heard the saying "He/She was dressed to the 9's" ?

For Codemash you want to dress to the 4's - 6's. Hit that sweet spot of comfort-ability, individuality, and geekiness.

You would be in good company wearing jeans and a t-shirt... Though, it sometimes gets chilly, so having a sweatshirt/sweater can be useful.

You'll see some people in shorts and Hawaiian shirts.  Others will be business casual.  I'm betting there will be one guy wearing a bow tie (seriously).

The most important thing is to be respectful of others (i.e., no profane slogans on T-Shirts, or swimwear in the conference area, etc.) and to be comfortable with whatever you wear.

Personally, I find some of the rooms to be too cold to wear shorts. I stick to jeans and a sweatshirt/sweater.

At the risk of sounding like a little old lady instead of a middle aged young man, I suggest bringing a sweater. IMO it is not warm enough throughout the conference center to wear shorts and a tshirt the whole time. Its pants, a tshirt and a removable sweater for me. Of course YMMV. :)

Sure, he wears shorts, but as OIC, he also won't sit down the entire week, and averages some Herculean mileage per day on foot. With the physical demands from the effort he puts in, I'm certain he could survive the CodeMash Blizzard, outside, in the same attire.

"YMMV," though it will probably be insignificant compared to Jim's; his mileage keeps both Converse and Right Guard in business.

In all fairness, Jim is running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.  as far as I'm concerned he can wear whatever he wants. (but, needs shorts and a t-shirt/Hawaiian shirt because he's burning so many calories).

I found the last couple of years I needed something other than shirt (blazer two years ago, which got me labelled "that guy", and sweaters last year).  But, I'm from Canada and don't like the code... YMMV.
