CodeMash attendees of years past will recall that we typically host a
panel discussion on Wednesday evening at 7 pm in the main dining hall.
This year's discussion will focus on Software Quality. Carl Franklin
will moderate the panel. Audience participation is strongly
encouraged. Microphones will be provided, as will paper for writing
questions (for those who may be intimidated by the huge room that is
now the main dining area).
Carl Franklin co-hosts NET Rocks!, a weekly talk show for anyone
interested in programming on the Microsoft .NET platform. The shows
range from introductory information to hardcore geekiness. His
extensive experience interviewing a wide variety of software
professionals should make for a fun an interesting discussion. Carl is
also an accomplished musician. You might find him in the jam sessions
hosted at CodeMash!
Bill Pugh is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of
Maryland, inventor of Skip Lists, lead on FindBugs, 6 time JavaOne
Rock Star, one of the puzzling type-it brothers. He has delighted Java
Posse Roundup attendees with his demonstration of fire eating, which
you can see on YouTube.
Carl Quinn co-hosts the Java Posse, a podcast which features
discussions of news about the Java platform. Carl now works for
NetFlix, and has previously worked for Google, Sun, and Borland.
Jeff Casimir created Jumpstart Lab in 2009. He currently travels the
world teaching Ruby/Rails applications.
Michelle Smith emphasizes communication, flexibility, and practical
advice in her job helping organizations write better code. Michelle is
a practicing veterinarian who has been working in the software
industry for over a decade.
All CodeMash attendees are welcome to join us on Wednesday, January 11
at 7 pm for the panel discussion.
