Hey everyone,
I'm new to this group, thanks for letting me join. I've found the
posts very inspiring so far.
App development and code is something that is way out of my area of
expertise. My background is in transportation planning (in addition to
biology and public policy), my chief interests are climate change and
natural resource use. But I find this Code4Livability fascinating and
think the benefits for sustainability can and will be huge. So I'm
just trying to get a sense of this. Would anyone recommend this or
another book?
iPhone Application Development for Dummies by Neal Goldstein
Also, I was watching the video from the Cleanweb Hackathon in NYC and
was surprised to see only 1 transportation app in the contest. The
majority of the entries focused on buildings. Granted buildings do
account for higher GHGs in the city, but does anyone have any thoughts
on why so few transportation apps? Is there a difference in the app
development for a building versus a transportation system?
And then finally, these are just two things I thought might interest
the group. The first is about Saudi Arabia's efforts in green building
and the second is a link to Google's green blog, but you all are
probably aware of it already.
