Just in answer to your query about US retail sales of VCO, Wal-Mart sells a non-hydrogenated (no transfat) brand of coconut oil in a one-liter size (almost 32 ounce containers) for about $7.

I will go check myself tomm. If Walmart is stocking it in their stores
then i am sure there must be a demand.
