My entire twitter feed this morning is basically this email.

Who's going? I have approval from work, but I think I might watch from afar this year.

I definitely won't get a ticket but I might head out that week anyway and watch from anear, and/or possibly look into AltWWDC:

We'll see how the servers hold up. Although, iTunes and the apple store are parts of the Apple infrastructure that have been reliable. But it's going to get a pounding tomorrow.

I sure the heck hope I'm going.

If I don't manage to get a ticket, I may go anyway for a few days during the week to hang out/do alt WWDC stuff/be a tourist.

Yeah, that's my plan - I'm going to SF that week, WWDC ticket or not. There's a whole ecosystem that has built up around people that don't get tickets, and there's really a critical mass of people there that whole week. It's worth it just for the social aspects.

With the sessions being released this year during the conference the only reason to go is social / networking.

Labs! Design lab was great for me last year and I hope to have a couple of tough problems saved up for the coding labs this time...

Also I was a little confused by the wording on the site in regard to the session availability:
"Can’t make it to WWDC?  We'll be posting videos of all our sessions during the conference"

Does that mean they'll post the videos DURING the conf while it's still going on, or they'll be posting videos of all sessions that took place during the conf 2 weeks later like they always do?

Last year the videos were available 4 days after the end of the conference.

The announcement I thought was well worded - although I doubt they will be live streamed I think with the editing teams they have staffed they come close to that.
My read was that each session may be posted by the end of day and definitely by the end of the conference.

I will be sitting in a jury box at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning.

Fortunately I have a girlfriend who is willing to steal my identity and so maybe I'll get to go this year after all.

I agree, it's not worth going. Nobody go. Nobody buy tickets. Just,
move right along.

I have my ticket ordered.  That was pretty easy.  Now onto hotels and air.

Yikes.  I feel bad about that last email, now that I hear it wasn't that easy for several people who weren't as lucky.

If it’d make you feel better I’ll gladly buy your ticket off you ;)

No worries, Howard, no worries at all! As far as I'm concerned you should be nothing but glad the cards fell your way, and we should be glad for you. Ditto Ben, who also scored a ticket.

I like that ticket sales were essentially first-come-first-serve, with no notion that anyone particularly deserves to go. I would slightly prefer that Apple ran an actual lottery instead of letting server requests be a de facto lottery. Also, I'd always be happier if there were more lead time before the conference itself. (Compare to MacTech Conference, which announced this year's dates almost a year in advance.) But these are minor reservations; I'm basically fine with how Apple did it this year. Just my opinion, of course.

Ed will be in SF during WWDC and so will I. Anybody else?

So I guess that means there be might be no June CocoaheadsNYC meeting and that the July one will consist mostly of people torturing and tickling Ben and me, trying to get us to divulge whatever secrets we've been sworn to under our implicit NDA!

Stay tuned for news about rescheduling of the June meeting.

For July, we're looking into renting suitable instruments of torture.
