Hello, Birders. The announcement (we used to call it the "brochure") for the CFO Convention in Lamar, Prowers County, May 5-9, 2016 is available online:

Printable PDF version here:

Please note that this is not the online registration form! We expect to have that up and running by the beginning of March. Neither is this the call for papers for the science session. That will be going out in the next week or so.

For now, alls you need to do is block out May 5-9 on your calendars. The convention will be fantastic. For one thing, we intend to document Colorado's 500th bird species during the convention... :-)

Seriously, the birding will be excellent. And there's so much more to the CFO convention experience than the birding: workshops, panels, quizzes, the science session, the banquet and keynote, welcome picnic, opportunities for students, and much more. Oh, and the most wondrous thing of all: the opportunity to spend three or four days with 200 or so of the nicest birders in Colorado. See you in Lamar!

P.s. Thanks to David Gillilan and Ann Johnson for major assistance in creating the convention announcement.

Hi, everybody. If you just can't wait till May to bird in and around Lamar, Prowers County...Don't just stand there, Do something!

The 14th annual High Plains Snow Goose Festival, based out of Lamar, is upon us. This year's festival will be held February 18-21, and the keynote speaker is Rick Wright, one of North America's brightest and most insightful birders. The festival will feature the usual full plate of field trips, workshops, and more. And here's a thought: You can stop by The Cow Palace and get first dibs on your room for the CFO convention! Seriously.

Get general info on the Snow Goose Festival here:

CFO is proud to be a sponsor of this year's festival. Speaking of CFO, we continue to update the CFO convention pages at COBirds.org. The place to go for updates is the lefthand panel on this page:

http://cobirds.org/CFO/Conventions/Next.aspx

For example, you'll see new information there about reserving your convention hotel room at a discounted rate.

See you in Lamar!--in February, and again, of course, in May.
