We've now had 3 days that look like pretty normal mid-spring days for us......maybe I shouldn't say that! 36 new, 1 return, 17 recaps (birds already processed this season). Two common first of season birds - a Western Wood-Pewee and a Bullock's Oriole, both arriving late. Plus a Magnolia Warbler, which is rare - only 3 since 2008, although 2 of those were last year. Here's the breakdown of the 37 new:
Western Wood-Pewee 1
Northern House Wren 3
Swainson's Thrush 2
American Robin 2
Gray Catbird 8
Yellow Warbler 7 new, 1 banded 2023
Magnolia Warbler 1
MacGillivray's Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
Wilson's Warbler 2
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
Song Sparrow 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 4
Red-winged Blackbird 1
Bullock's Oriole 1
We are banding Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays) through May 31, weather permitting. There are opportunities for the public to visit on weekends and occasional weekdays through the
Denver Audubon website. (Some days are already sold out, so sign up now if you are interested!)
