Greetings Friends and Members of The Coalition, Inc.,
We declare our right on this earth...to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary.
This week we are acknowledging the anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest minds of the twentieth century! On May 19th 1925 a man was born destined to shine the Light of truth on situations that threatened the very existence of mankind. Despised in his birth country, but welcomed and honored in nations all over the world, he dedicated his life to the resurrection and re-establishment of human values. For this he was assassinated by those whose interests were contrary to those values. His legacy remains “You can kill a revolutionary, but you can’t kill a revolution”, as emphasized in the award-winning film ‘Malcolm X’, many of us are proud to stand and declare ‘I am Malcolm X’.
This is the last week for submitting nominations and résumé’s for new members to The Coalition, Inc. Board of Directors. Members of The Coalition, Inc.’s board of directors should bring with them a healthy history of community service and a desire to contribute unilaterally. Knowledge of The Coalition’s mission and belief in its vision is a must. Ours is not a sitting board, but a board of action, so hopefuls should be ‘Boots on the ground’* activists. Requests will be accepted until 25 May 2012. *’Boots on the ground’ originated by Coalition friend and advocate Revin Fellows of Chicago, IL

In 1972, several thousand African Americans, representing many different political persuasions, came together in Gary, Indiana for the National Black Political Convention. In addition to Black elected officials, who were automatically given delegate status, various states sent elected delegates to the convention. On the agenda of the convention were issues such as a national healthcare system, an urban-version of the Homestead Act, the Black United Front, a minimum wage, as well as the effective enforcement of anti-trust legislation.
Today, many of these issues remain relevant and unresolved. Others are coming into sharper focus. It is incumbent upon us to pick up the torch and carry on the mission to improve the lives of people of African descent. Our focus should be trained on empowering people who reside here in the Unites States, but also should address how America’s international policies impact people of color in other parts of the world. Make plans to join us in Chicago for the Historical National Black Agenda Convention July 13 – 14, 2012. For more information go to www.historic2012chicago.info
"I'll say nothing against him. At one time the whites in the United States called him a racialist, and extremist, and a Communist. Then the Black Muslims came along and the whites thanked the Lord for Martin Luther King." – Malcolm X
