This is the way all burglaries should end, but it can only happen if
*you* are prepared to make it happen that way!

Nice job. But, someone needs to teach her to keep her finger off the trigger
unless she's in a situation where she's ready to go to work with the gun.
Posing for a news camera clearly didn't fit that description.

According to the news report, the woman was "armed with a concealed-carry
permit".
That must have been a LARGE CALIBER "permit"

My guess is they didn't allow her to have bullets in the gun for this
"show" but they wanted it to look really dramatic, thrilling,
bone-chilling! "This gals *ready* for battle!"

I noticed that when I first heard it and forgot to mention it. The
"permit" does little to stop a BG - unless it's "activated" by actually
carrying.

If I recall correctly she had to go back to her car to get the cell
phone AND S&W. He could have knocked her over with a ball bat or lamp
or many other things had he seen her in time - and chosen that course of
action.

I'll bet next time she'll be MORE ready.

If you pull it, you have our finger on the trigger, and if the situation is
dicey you go to single action mode.

In the video, her finger is on the SIDE of the trigger, not the face.
It does not appear to even enter the trigger guard except perhaps at one
point.

Not the best of form, but not the worst either.

There are children standing here,
Arms outstretched into the sky,
Tears drying on their face.
He has been here.
Brothers lie in shallow graves.
Fathers lost without a trace.
A nation blind to their disgrace,
Since he's been here.

And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

Houses burnt beyond repair.
The smell of death is in the air.
A woman weeping in despair says,
He has been here.
Tracer lighting up the sky.
It's another families' turn to die.
A child afraid to even cry out says,
He has been here.

And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

There are children standing here,
Arms outstretched into the sky,
But no one asks the question why,
He has been here.
Old men kneel and accept their fate.
Wives and daughters cut and raped.
A generation drenched in hate.
Yes, he has been here.

And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

And we still don't know if she unloaded the revolver first.

It's also a double action revolver, which makes a big difference.

Not according to any safety instructor or highly regarded gun author I've
ever heard of (Ayoob, Taylor, etc.). Mechanically, it matters. But, in terms
of training, it does not.

There is a saying that one never puts his finger on the trigger until he
is ready to fire. Apparently, she was "ready to fire" as she should
have been once she learned he was still in the closet. She probably
should have stood off to one side of the door as opposed to directly in
front of it, just in case he had a weapon.

I realize this was a dramatization of the incident - and may not be
exactly how it came down - but she may have been told to put her finger
on the trigger for the footage. ....Probably unloaded at filming time! ;-)

I doubt she'll have to go back to the vehicle next time!

GO GIRL!
