A few comments from an outside looker.
As I'm not involved in any of these issues, I select to be anonymous,
but as you can find out easily from the IP, I'm in New Jersey.
Up until now, quite a few people that are involved in the arguments have
appeared in person and clarify the
facts. All these people are clarifying the "facts" that are distorted by
people who support Zhang GongQing
and Tian Gang. It is especailly striking in the case of Li Jun and Hong
JiaXing, it's just unbelievable
why these people are distorting such a simple and straight forward fact.
It is hard to get any credibility
from these people anymore. Although there're still lots of facts that ne
ed to be clarified,
but there're more credibility in Yau's side from what has happend so far
And by the way, is there
any people from Zhang and Tian's side who has come out and clarify any s
ingle one of the facts?
Another point of arguments is the Fields medal, go ahead and ask any mat
hematician who has done something in the
field of geomitric analysis, or PDE, or mathematical physics in US, who
thinks Tian Gang deserve the Field Medal?
For those people who know nothing about mathematics, please just shut up
.
It is a well known fact that almost 99% of the overseas chinese who go b
ack to China just want to get that kind of
psychological highness and super star treatment, plus the physical well
being, all they want is to extract as much
personal wealth and fame as possible. It happens in all the fields, not
just mathematics. What a shame!
The ultimate well being of China depends on people who are working in Ch
ina permanently, not these overseas people.
Chinese, unfortunately, don't have a sense of "all people are born equal
ly", all the chinese want to be on an upper
class than other people. Yes, there're different levels or classes in th
e contributions made to either science or society.
But please, there's no difference in terms of being a human being, you h
ave no right to look down upon any other single
individual in any way, unless this person is just such disgraceful. Unfo
rtunately there're so many people here behaving
like hell, they're far from being a decent person yet.
Lastly, I wonder if quite a few of these so call academicians feel asham
ed of themselves. How many academic achievements
do you have so far, and how many PhD students have you spent time trying
to help to grow so far? And you claim so much
benefits from the country, what a shame!
