Good Morning Folks,
This Farm opens just a few hours from now and we are
ready to welcome you back to the 18th century. We have been busy this
winter whitewashing the inside of the house, pitching the roof,
cutting down dead apple trees, repairing fences and fixing the paths.
Part of the kitchen garden has been planted with windsor beans, early peas and
spring greens and we have sows that will farrow later this spring, perhaps in
time for Market Fair!
The GateHouse Shop is full of Easter gifts at great prices! We have
assembled Easter baskets with items from the last Estate
Sale that are ready for you to complete with the candy of your
choice. There are vintage and modern Easter themed gifts, lots
of rabbit thingies and other stuff. We have also added a craft corner
which will be permanent for a while.
Behind the scenes, we are busy in
the greenhouse and nursery preparing for the Spring Plant Sale on April 24 &
25. If you have any time this month (on spring break?) and would like to
come and help us out, please contact dde...@1771.org to volunteer with
plants. We've started sorting books again and can use your help with that
too, just contact ma...@1771.org.
Check out our website www.1771.org for directions, events, news and volunteer opportunities at The Claude Moore Colonial Farm.
Thank you so much for supporting us. We look forward to a good growing year and to seeing you often.
Anna Eberly,
Managing Director
