2. Safe Social Networking Study Day at Treloar
College & Chailey Heritage School

on the topic of Safe Social Networking, hosted by
Treloar College on 30 May 2012, and Chailey Heritage School on 20 June 2012.
* Each day covers the safe use of Twitter, Facebook & Skype.
* The days are open to students at the
college/school, as well as to other young adults
(aged 16-25) using AAC from nearby colleges or who are living at home.

Information Days coming next week. On 30th and
31st May we will be at Manchester. Our free
Information Days are a great opportunity for
educators, therapists, advisors and others
working in the field of special needs to come
together and see how technology is changing the lives of all learners.
Severe and Complex Needs – Communication and
Learning Through Technology – 30th May
This day focuses on the use of ICT to support the
communication, learning and leisure needs of
children and young people with severe and complex
special needs. We will demonstrate a wide range
of the latest hardware and software resources and
provide lots of ideas on how you can use these every day:
* From switches to eye-gaze; exploring access to technology.
* Engaging experiential learners.
* Developing Cause and Effect understanding.
* Making effective use of a range of simple communication devices.
* Creating motivational and personalised resources.
This day would be useful for teachers, therapists
and support assistants working directly with
learners experiencing severe and complex special educational needs.

8. Therapy Box on the Road

A reminder that Therapy Box team will be on the road in the next few months...
Open Day, Lampeter, Wednesday 30th May 2012
We will be in Canolfan Steffan (Teras
Ffynnonbedr, Lampeter SA48 7BX) to demonstrate
our communication apps and accessories! There
will be two hours in each session - the first
being the demonstration session where we will
show you all of the apps and their functionality,
and you’ll get the chance to ask our product
specialist any questions you have. During the
second hour, there will be a chance for you to be
hands on with the hardware and apps. Feel free to
bring clients, users or other professionals along to try out the equipment too.

The latest Total Communication Network meeting is
being held at the Ivel Barbarians Rugby Club in
Yeovil, starting at 10am-3.30pm (tea and coffee
available at 9.30am). There will be plenty of
information about Therapy Box, as well as a
discussions about communication technology with the experts.
