Hi there

I am new to CloudBioLinux. Thank you for the great work you are
doing.
I am trying to import the .ova into VirtualBox and received an error
as below.

Failed to import appliance C:\CloudBioLinux32bit-VB
\CloudBioLinux-32bit.ova.
Shared folder path '/home/agbiotec' is not absolute.
Result Code: E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057)
Component: SharedFolder
Interface: ISharedFolder {8388da11-b559-4574-a5b7-2bd7acd5cef8}

Can anyone please advise? The system is Windows XP professional 32
bit.Different emulator?
-Also, I would like to know whether I can choose to run some small
application locally (without the use of Amazon)
-And I would like to know whether anyone has tried running it on the
DIAG.

Hello there,

and many thanks for trying our VirtualBox Appliances. I suppose you do the importing with the
Appliance Import Wizard in Virtualbox. Could you post what is the value you have under the
"Virtual Disk Image" field at the "Applicance Import Settings" step in the wizard ? The step should
be something like this:

Thanx for the quick response!

The "Virtual Disk Image" field at the "Applicance Import Settings"
step in the wizard says:
C:\Documents and Settings\uvp\VirtualBox VMs\Cloud BioLinux 32bit
\CloudBioLinux-32bit-disk1_1.vmdk
I suppose it was unpacked there the first time since there is a 13 Gig
file there...
That ok?

Hello again,

and apologies for the long delay for replying - it was a problem from
my side, I had some shared folders set up as I was working with the
VM, and when I exported it as appliance were carried with it ;-) Too bad
VirtualBox is not more resilient to null the errors, and remove the references
to the shared folders when they do not exist.

Anyhow, I've created an updated VirtualBox appliance and uploaded it
to cloudbiolinux.org. Could you re-download it and try to see if it works
properly ? Please let us know of the results. Thanks again for trying it
out !

cheers,

 Ntino

PS scapie, have I met you at the CHPC workshop in Pretoria this past December ?

Hi Ntino

Picking up on this thread. I downloaded the .ova file from:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/cloudbiolinuxvms/Cloud+BioLinux+32bit.ova

The import into VirtualBox on my Mac worked fine, but when booting I
got an:
error: file not found.
grub rescue>

doing: ls (hd0,msdos1)/
listed a number of directories including the boot directory. However
doing:
ls (hd0,msdos1)/boot/
indicates that the directory is empty, so I'm not sure how to boot the
machine.

I was wondering whether I was doing something wrong and whether you
could advise me how to boot the machine.
