Looking for a new online password manager

to Clipperz
Hello everyone. This is my first post here.
I currently am using the RoboForm online password manager. I am still
on their free 30 day trial period. Towards the end of this month, the
impression I am getting is that my free trial will end, and to enjoy
the current benefits that I am currently enjoying, I will have to
upgrade for $20+.

So, I did a Google search for password managers, and I came across
Clipperz, which I'm sorry to say, I am not familiar with.

Obviously, since this is a forum for Clipperz, I probably won't hear
much bad about Clipperz, but can anyone who perhaps has experienced
both RoboForm and Clipperz make an argument for me on why I should
jump ship from RoboForm over to Clipperz.

I really haven't done too much research yet. Is Clipperz free
forever, or is there also an upgrade purchase?

Is it easy to use? Roboform is very easy, and it seems very powerful,
but then again, it is my first password manager, so perhaps they all
offer the same functions as RoboForm.

Please elaborate in your response to help me make my decision when the
time comes when RoboForm pulls the plug on my free trial period!

Thank you in advance.

I don't use roboform, but I might still be able to help out. Probably the first thing to be clear is about is the set of features do you need. If you absolutely need something that roboform can do and clipperz can't then you the decision is made for you.

It's frankly preposterous that I'd be replying to your post; I've been
using Clipperz for only about a week. Furthermore, I have *not* used
RoboForm, and know nothing about it.

Clipperz appears to be open-source, and to provide off-line tools and
even (IIUC) libraries that you can use to decrypt their format. I
would say that they've pretty effectively undercut any possible
monetization :).

There are definitely limits to Clipperz form completion. For
instance, they don't appear to handle the ping-pong cookie interaction
required by some services. If the web service has a straightforward
id / password form, Clipperz works great. The appeal of Clipperz to
me goes beyond its ability to fill forms; in particular, it provides
me with the confidence to finally get off my behind and use seriously
secure passwords, even for unimportant or less-obviously-important
services like Facebook.

Biggest advantage to me is that all encryption / decryption happens in your browser using javascript.  Meaning you can save a local copy and if Clipperz goes offline tomorrow you'll still have access to your passwords.

But you can donate if you want to :-) Either lump sum or set up a regular scheduled donation. I use clipperz every day, and I think it is worth donating for what it offers means that (see below).

Yes, there are some sites where the direct logins don't work, but I have found that it really does not take long to copy and paste the login info and as John said it really does provide the confidence to create really secure passwords. For me fancy features are not that important, what I need is something that I think is rock solid and that provides a quick way to get the password I want (see the search in the gamma version).

When I started using clipperz I went through the passwords stored in my browser and in my email account. I was horrified by the number of sites or accounts that I had passwords for (it was many more than I expected) and almost crawled into a corner when I saw how many of them used one of 3 different passwords.

Walking around with a printed set of one-time passwords (OPTs) is also comforting. A short while after I started using clipperz I had several weeks of travel and had to use other peoples' computers. I suddenly became very thankful that I had the OTPs with me. Just sitting in front a machine that I had no idea what might be running on it really brought home to me how valuable clipperz is to me.
