Dear Climate Change Working Group folks, is anyone interested to pick
this up to promote/organize a local action?

In just over a week, Canadians will rise up with people all over the
world
in support of a Copenhagen agreement that can help prevent
catastrophic
climate change. As a leader in this work, you can help enormously by
contributing to an intensive, all-out push to get paper and electronic
media
covering the story and to spread the word so we get impressive numbers
out
to events.
1. Let me know if your organization is not yet involved and would
like
information on events including contacts for your area.
2. Help local event organizers each out to media to do articles,
interviews,
personal interest stories. Find out what you can do to pitch in. The
attached generic press release and advisory were prepared by 350.org
for use
with local/regional media. The advisory should be sent by Tuesday,
October
20th, then followed up with phone calls. Oct 24 is positive, timely
and
important. Media will want to cover it but they need information.
Call
journalists and let them know what’s happening and why. Try to
coordinate
with other groups involved but don’t worry about multiple approaches
since
they only add buzz around the story. Personal stories about
individuals
getting involved are also a great idea.
3. Post the national press release on your website next Thursday am:
I
will send you the embargoed version prepared by large groups doing
multiple
events next week.
4. Circulate posters and cards.
