Hi Tina!

Sorry about what I said on Left Clip - did I scare you off? LOL. You didn't
write after I wrote that...it's just that I got so excited that you know the
same ward I do! LOL. Is Oliver OK now? Did he have medication before his
operation to make him relaxed? I did when I had my first one at 4 months old, but I
got so upset and distressed that the nurses had to get special permission to
let Mum carry me to theatre in her arms!

Did his lip split after his operation? Por thing! I hope he's OK now.

Lots of love,

Emma xxxxxxxxx

Hi Tina,

I'm 17, and I've had 6 driving lessons so far! Who knows - maybe next time I
go to the QVH (on July 8th) I may drive myself?! I've got a unilateral cleft
lip and palate, and at the next cleft clinic thing I'm going to ask if I can
have my palate repaired again because despite a revision in 2003, I still get
whatever I drink dripping down it - not very cool in the college refectory! My
teeth are kind of OK. I personally don't like them, and am regretting not
having a brace on my bottom teeth because they're wonky, but then again, despite
having had a train track brace on my top teeth for 4 years and having to have a
retainer until at least July, so are my top ones! I had a bone graft when I
was 8, and it's the two front teeth which are growing from where the bone graft
is which are still wonky. Those two particular teeth are a bit discoloured,
yes, and I have an electric toothbrush but it doesn't seem to make any
difference. Maybe I'll ask my dentist to professionally clean them next time I go.

Where abouts in Sussex do you live? I really like talking to you, and it
would be great to actually meet you and Oliver! I live a few miles away from
Hastings.

Lots of love,

Emma xxxxxxxxx

Hi Tina,

I think my repair is quite good. It's not perfect, becauase I've had more
operations on my nose so there's a bit of scarring, but I don't think it's too
visible. I did get bullied at my old school when people called me 'squashed
nose', 'wonky lips' and stuff. I had the operations in 2001 and 2003 just to stop
people calling me names, but even though I didn't look too different I still
got called names!
I'm attaching a photo of myself. Can I see a photo of you?

I'm not sure if Oliver's tooth will be wonky. I guess there's a 50-50 chance.

Lots of love,

Emma xxxxxxxxx

ps. My mum passed her test on her 6th try! She started learning aged 17, and
passed aged 29!

Hi Tina,

Oh, I'm sorry! I forgot to actually attach the photo, didn't I? LOL. It's not
the latest photo, but I haven't changed much. It's of me at Cropredy music
festival in August 2004. I'm in the tarpaulin because it was raining and it was
the only form of shelter I had!

I think Maidstone is a little too far for me to travel. Is there somewhere
else we could meet up where neither of us will get hopelessly lost?

Lots of love,

Emma xxxxxxxxx

Hi Tina,

Meeting up at the hospital sounds fine to me. You're right - I am very familiar with it! Are you sure it's OK with you, though? Oli will have just had his operation, won't he? But if you're OK with it, so am I. It'd be cool to see Scott again without being drugged up! LOL.

Hi Tina,

How long will Oliver be in hospital for? I just looked at the calendar and
the 11th is a Monday. I have college on that day! Is there any way we could meet
up at the weekend?

Lots of love,

Emma xxxxxxxxx
